A beautiful day with bluebird skies, and just enough snow to allow us to open our trails. Despite low snow conditions, a few riders made the trek on sled; but many more attended the event by driving. We ended up feeding approximately 50 , with a total attendance around 65. We exceeded our original goal of $ 500, by donating $ 1,000 to the local VFW Post 790. Wayne seemed pretty happy when we gave him the check to present to the VFW, represented by Ron Tallman and Chuck Barney. Bob Campo and his crew served up an awesome meal of chicken, mostaciolli, rolls, and salad. For desert, the SHS Girls Softball team was there with a table of baked goodies as a fundraiser to purchase new uniforms. Matt and Dave made some kids dreams come true by providing rides in the groomers. Matt even took Wayne out for a little spin so he could get a little grooming in. Even though Wayne has been out of the groomer for a number of years, it didn’t take him long to look right at home behind the controls. 90 years young , and still able to operate a groomer …pretty amazing. Mandy Dwinell from VAST also attended and made nice presentation to Wayne , thanking him for all his years of service to VAST and snowmobiling in VT.
